I first started off my day yesterday with the AAM CMJ party at the Knitting Factory. AAM promoted my bands’ last two albums, yet I was surprised I was still invited. In my paranoid mind, they recently fired their publicist because he agreed to take on our next Justice of the Unicorns album. That’s probably not true, but I don’t know why no one else there will return my emails. Anyway I figured I’d get a free show out of them and saw Francis and the Lights, Magic Bullets and Ty Segall.

I had planned to make my lunch at Fette Sau BBQ across the street, but instead saw this menu next door at St. Anselm (the same owners) that had Boar Belly Sandwich and Foie Gras Piergoies. Fuck Me. I went in and ordered that Boar Belly Sandwich and Fried Rick’s Picks Hottie Pickles. These fried pickles didn’t do anything for me, but that Boar Belly sandwich was delicious. It was like a cross between thick cut bacon and jerky with a dark flavor and texture. Looking at their menu now, there’s a lot of adventurous dishes. I need to go back and try more.

Francis and the Lights was so spazzy, but in a way that I’d see myself being if I was him. He’s opening up for Ke$ha this week.

Ty Segall is like a cross between the Black Lips and Nirvana.
