We were at the Galway Hooker Pub for Sartorius’ b-day drinks. Etzold had a hamburger. I took a bite and thought it was surprisingly awesome. Dare I say one of the best I’ve had in NY. Then one of the Sartorius’ friend said the best burger in NY is at Houston’s. Never heard of it. I kept pronouncing it “How-stun” by habit. Anyway Etzold, Sam and I took her advice the next day and headed over to Houston’s to try them.

So far Houston’s the fanciest sit down place I’d had lunch at during work. Turns out it’s a chain. So skepticism set in for these burgers. Etzold and I split the standard Hillstone Burger (cheddar, tomato, lettuce and onion) and a California burger (jack cheese, avocado, arugula and red onion). I was jealous of his baked potato. It looked really good. Much better than my skimpy string fries. Well it was a good burger. Not amazing. Can’t really say it would be one of my top burgers I’ve eaten, but decent. Gotta go back to the Hooker and try that other burger again.

Houston’s – 378 Park Ave S (btw 26th & 27th St) New York 10010
