I was waiting for the bus off Bedford and saw The Meatball Shop across the street. Dang, I’m hungry. Good time to food blog.

I marked off the Special balls and sauce with the Family Jewels on the menu, not even knowing what any of that meant. Turns out the Family Jewels means a fried egg and the Special was Reuben Balls (Corned Beef) with Sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing. I’m not sure I would have ordered that if I knew, but it was surprisingly good. It wasn’t that it tasted like a Reuben sandwich …Reminds me of how Jelly Belly has different flavors (buttered popcorn, strawberry cheesecake), but they’re still just a jelly bean. These balls tasted Reuben-ish, but were still meatballs true and true.

They gave me the recipe for their Spicy Pork Meatballs with the bill. I also found the recipe for the Reuben Balls here on FOX News.

If anyone cares, the bus came right as I finished. Good timing.
