Day 6: Someone in between Savannah and Atlanta, we stopped for gas and across the street was a lone Boiled Peanut & Peaches stand. $4 for 32oz styrofoam cup of hot boiled peanuts. Dang good.
I can’t figure how to get the GPS to work on my new camera. So don’t know where exactly this was. Dang.
Boiled peanuts baffle me. I’ve seen them many times, swimming in that dirty, percolating water. Never had them but always wondered: Since they’re boiling hot, do you eat them shell and all or what? And what the hell kind of texture are they? And do they taste like, say, peanuts or peanuts with cattle fodder? Do tell.
Don’t eat the shell, but on the inside it’s like firmer beans. And when you bite it, it’s mushy like peas.
They’re awesome.
