Not a CMJ show, but got to see Brad Paisley with special guests Dierks Bentley and Jimmy Wayne at MSG …all last minute thanks to Jeff and the powers that be. I’m really not familiar with their music, but I was curious to check out a real deal country show. First stop, dinner at Mooncake Foods. I ordered the Octopus & Spinach Noodles with Tamarind sauce. Sounds adventurous. Big chunks of octopus with green noodles and a peanutty sauce for $8.95. It was a lot food and really good with the jalapeno sauce that reminds me of Sophie’s Cuban green sauce. Looking at all the dishes that came out of the kitchen, they were of nice portions and appearance, especially for the price.
Also, somehow I got two Tiger beers for $5. I don’t know if this was a happy hour special, but it said I saved $4 on the bottom of the receipt.
The concert was pretty exciting. Dierks reminded me of Mathew McConaughey and Brad Paisley ripped all over his guitar like he was ADD and had OCD –in a impressive way. It was a huge stage production and crew. The crowd had a lot of happy drunk guys in cowboy hats and a lot of girls that looked like Taylor Swift, or at least a big-booty version. The girl next to me was really into Brad Paisley. She called me out, “Do you even know who this guy is?”, with a smile. I must’ve been the only guy there with skinny jeans.
