Anthony and I got $5 ticket to DragonForce at the Fillmore through Citi/Live Nation’s $5 ticket promotion. Sweet deal if the convenience fees weren’t more than the tickets. Sweeter deal at The Cottage Chinese restaurant next door to the Fillmore for free unlimited wine. They keep bringing carafes of white wine while you’re eating. The food is pretty standard Chinese-American fare. Ordered the Prawns with Young Ginger Root and Ten Ingredient Chow Fun and a wonton soup. The bill came to $25 for all that food and wine. We even had to turn down the last full carafe the waiter brought us. That’s how generous they were.
DragonForce was well worth the $5. The singer kept spitting and throwing water at the audience and then flicking them off. He had a stash of bottles to do just that. The 2nd guitarist and the bassist kept making expressions like “oh well, I guess I’m just a bad little boy.” Herman Li couldn’t stop playing fast and had a sweet move where he made his guitar squeal and picked up it by the tremolo bar, then slammed it against his hip. The drummer was put in the corner, maybe because his double bass action would steal the show. And the keyboardist played keyboards that sounded like a guitar. I think they played their hit song five times or maybe it all sounds like it.
