Ben & Jerry’s New Greek Frozen Yogurt

Ben & Jerry’s just launched their new Greek Frozen Yogurt line. There’s Banana Peanut Butter, Strawberry Shortcake, Raspberry Fudge Chunks, Blueberry Vanilla Graham. All pretty dang good. My favorites were the Peanut Butter one and the Blueberry Graham …and I think the majority at the event agreed.

I don’t eat much ice cream or frozen yogurt, but I do eat a lot of regular yogurt and drink kefir. I’d say this new Greek Frozen Yogurt taste like ice cream to me. Really rich and creamy.

The new Greek Frozen Yogurt doesn’t have any rBGH …or betterly phrased, they don’t use dairy that comes from cows that use rBGH. I had to look up what that meant. It’s bovine hormones. Looks like Ben & Jerry’s is trying to keep with using quality ingredients. I don’t know much about that stuff. I just know it tastes good.

This new line of Greek Frozen Yogurt is hitting store shelves now. They will also have parfaits and smoothies using the Greek Frozen Yogurt at their shops.

They gave me a bunch of pints to take back to my office. I was a hero for a day.

I kept taking photos of the dude holding up the pictures of the Frozen Yogurt signs. He looks just like my friend Zzalgern0n, who I made that Superman film about.

Shake Shack’s Jeremy Lin-Mint Shake

Shake Shack is having a Jeremy Lin inspired shake for a limited time. It’s Chocolate Chip Mint Cookie milkshake ($5.75).

Sam brought one back to the office and let me taste. Super thick. It was good. I wonder if that’s what Jeremy Lin tastes like.

I love cookie dough in ice cream. Now I wonder what Fortune Cookie dough or Almond Cookie dough would taste like in ice cream. Maybe that would be racist, but it more sense, right?

Botan Rice Candy

This week, I’ll be posting things I’ve found in my bedroom while cleaning up…

I remember eating these Botan Rice Candies when I was kid. There’s two wrappers, one made out of rice that you can eat. Melts in your mouth. I don’t know why they have the outer plastic wrapper if you’re going to have a rice wrapper. I wonder if Jeremy Lin ate these when he was little.

Pizza Candy

This week, I’ll be posting things I’ve found in my bedroom while cleaning up…

I found this old Pizza Candy in my room. Small piece. I only had one of them. How long does candy last? My friends said forever. I don’t know if that’s true.

I tasted it anyway. It didn’t really taste like pizza. Sort of perfume-y and fruity. Kind of like a date. Shit. That almost sounds like a joke, but I meant the fruit.

Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Bar

Elisa and Todd brought over these Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Bars along with a half rotisserie chicken when we watched the Tebow documentary, Everything in Between.

I remember these. I hadn’t had one since middle school. I remember my friend Josh came over after school for the first time. We were renovating our house, turning the carport into a garage. There was a bunch of construction rubble in our driveway. He saw that and told me how he always thought my family was rich. I guess he assumed we always have rubble in our driveway and that meant we were poor? I asked him why he thought we were rich. He said he saw me buying one of these Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Bars at lunch. I think they were $1.75 or something. He saw me take a few bites and threw it away. I haven’t had one of these bars since.

Top 10 Pastry Chefs in America 2011

Oh shit. I had the great privilege to eat all the best desserts made by the “Top 10 Pastry Chefs in America” as determined by Dessert Professional magazine at their awards party. So much sugar. I really don’t know what was going on. I know I almost got my ass kicked by one of the chefs when I stole one of his plastic spoons. Well he did only have six of them, and I waited for him to look the other way when he caught me, and he probably saw that I just threw away my old spoon a few seconds earlier.

My big mistake of the night was trying to eat every single sweet and finish it. I was so high by the end, I came home and took an online improv class. It was taught by Wayne Brady at the Learning Annex.

Eataly Ribs and People’s Pops @ Madison Square Eats

I met up with Melissa (Spatula Queen) and Noah at Madison Square Eats. I did it! I’m still alive after being in that crowd. Honestly, it wasn’t that bad.

I ran into Siobhan (Blondie and Brownie) and she recommended Eataly’s Ribs. I especially like that there wasn’t much of a line. Ribs were deep fried. Pretty good. Not BBQ-y. Just flavorful ribs without the rub or sauce.

I really liked Noah’s pizza from Roberta’s with the Hot Honey sauce. I’ve never heard of Hot Honey. I gotta get me some.

Then Melissa treated us to some People’s Pops. Shaved Ice off the block.

Madison Square Eats, you weren’t as scary as I thought. Sad there’s only one day left …Friday 6/3/2011.

The Soft Serve Fruit Co – Win a $20 gift card!

I was invited to taste the new The Soft Serve Fruit Co in the Upper East Side. I wasn’t sure what it was, because I’m bad at reading my emails. It looks like frozen yogurt, but it’s fruit —(fruit puree, water and cane sugar). Their whole shtick is “Cholesterol free, Fat free, Dairy free, Gluten free”. I don’t usually eat sweets or treats and this was really tasty. The right amount of sweetness. Not too much.

They have a toppings bar so could fuck up any healthy thing you were going for. The picture is of their Crunchy Salty (pretzels, chocolate chips, hot peanut butter over banana soft serve). It was really yummy.

You can win this $20 gift card they gave me. The contest is to send me a quick photo or drawing of how hot, sweaty and desperate you are for a frozen treat (that you are willing to let me republish). Best photo wins. Contest ends June 3, 2011 . Send pics to jason@mightysweet.com …I sound like a filthy old man.
