Friends in town and I was trying to decide which one place I should take them to eat. For John, his first time in NYC, I took him to Time Square to be a tourist and back to my hood for a delicious burger at Dumont. For Sally and Jay, we went to the Shake Shack near my work for a Shack Stack burger and dogs. I think I did okay. Maybe should’ve gone more dirty and less touristy for Sally and Jay, but I didn’t want to chance that one meal I was picking.

Where would you guys pick?

Dumont – 432 Union Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11206
Shake Shack – (Madison Square Park) E 23rd St & Madison Ave. New York, NY 10010

Shake Shack is always a safe bet. Same goes with Ippudo.

Menkui Tei (preferably near St. Mark’s) is a good choice when introducing ramen to friends. The decor may not be as fancy as Ippudo’s, but their noodles’re great.

If you’re going for ‘dirtier,’ one of my latest discoveries is Henry Public in BK. They serve up praiseworthy turkey leg sandwiches.

    Essex for weekend brunch.

    The list can go on…
