I planned to try Kabab Factory’s $6.95 all-you-can-eat lunch kababs and curry. But like last time, I walked downstairs to the dining room and couldn’t figure out what to do. I didn’t see a buffet or any service. I figured it was a sign since my butt was already aching. I decided to ignore the sign and my butt and went for the vegetarian Indian buffet at Tiffin Wallah for also $6.95. Not a whole lot of variety, but pretty solid. I noticed the guys in front of me loaded up their plates and it looked awesome. I need to hire them as photo stylists.

I felt I needed my veggies. At Jimmy’s I tried to choose as much vegatables as I could, but now see that I subconsciously picked a lot of meat. Do sesame seeds count as vegetable? Look how pretty. –pick 4 items on rice with soup for $5.75

My friend Phil gave me a super easy pork shoulder recipe a while back. And there was a half pork shoulder at C-town for $4. Awesome!
Pernil Pork Shoulder recipe:
1. wash the pork shoulder and score it with a knife with good deep cuts
2. pour white vinegar over it and get it nice and wet
3. pat down a lot of Adobe seasoning (optional: salt and stick garlic cloves in the scores)
4. put it in the oven at 450 degress for about an hour. then turn down to 350 for another 3-4 hours. Get a meat thermometer to check. (I did a full pork shoulder about a year ago. I feel like it took just a little longer in the oven.)
The pork came out so tender and tasty. I did have to salt it after it was on my plate, accompanied by some nice creamy salsa verda sauce (almost like Peruvian Aji sauce) that I also found at C-town.

I spent about an hour walking around because I was so indecisive for lunch. Yeah, check me out trying to pick out a toothpaste. I’m getting better though. I ended up at Fava where they have falafel pita type sandwiches. I splurged for the Mediterranean Combo (falafel, humus, baba ganoush, grape, leaves and feta cheese). It was really good. But I’m curious if you really get more when you are paying more or you’re just paying more because they have to scoop more different things in your pita. I only got one falafel. I guess that makes sense because you are only limited to the physical size of the pita. But say for instance lamb on rice and chicken on rice is both $5. But if you want lamb and chicken on rice, it is $5.50, but you’re only getting half lamb and half chicken –not more physical meat if you just picked one. I don’t get it. But I will get it, because I like more different things on my plate/pita.

Stumbled upon this new Döner Turkish pita sandwich place on their opening day with Yoshie and Rob. What is Döner? I guess like gyro? I guess like swarma? Taste & looks like that. The people there were really nice.
Then Georgia’s surprise birthday with condom balloons …only because they couldn’t find regular balloons.

I was talking to this girl on the train about pizza in the neighborhood. I’ve always wondered why you’d go to Tony’s Pizza on Graham Ave when there’s the awesome Carmine’s Pizza right across the street, which store looks so much better. This girl swears that Tony’s tastes better. Time to try for myself. I interrupted their TMZ show and got a grandma/sicilian slice like she says. I gotta say –not bad at all. I didn’t have a Carmine’s slice to do a side by side comparison, but Tony’s was good.
