Wanted to try Wo Hop for the first time, but once again the line was way too long. Went to Hop Kee. One time I came here to meet an old gf’s parents’ for the first time drunk after playing 5 consecutive games of beer pong. I couldn’t help it. I kept winning. I was just that good. I ate crab cantonese with them even though I’m slightly allergic (itchy mouth). Some of the crab juice squirted in my eye and it swelled up big and red like Hitch. I imagine I left some impression.
So now that I know the Secret, I took my chances with the crab once again. It was awesome. Later in the middle of the night, it was not so awesome. I had to run to the bathroom every hour for the next two days. When I sat on the toilet I thought it was odd that it smelled like patchouli. Is it this bad? Am I going delirious? Am I turning into a hippy? Do hippies have food poisoning? Turned out it was my new laundered underwear.
Many lessons to be learned here. In the end, the crabs were awesome and I might have gotten sick over what I had for lunch. It’s like my old friend Bill Brown when we got into a car accident trying to pick up a pizza from Papa Johns. When we finally did eat the pizza, Bill joked that it was totally worth it.

While out buying underwear and socks, I passed by this cool band of brothers at Union Square. It was like Vampire Weekend meets Tom Waits. But maybe only like Vampire Weekend because they wear scarves. And maybe like Tom Waits because I can’t understand what they’re saying …but that’s because they’re singing in a different language.
A delicious artichoke slice from Artichoke. There’s always a line which means it’s good and you’re getting a fresh slice. Last time I went with Suzy Q and my slice was so hot, the cheese was all soupy. But it was still really good. Like hot artichoke dip smothering bread. I included pics from back then. This time my slice was congealed.
Artichoke Basille’s Pizza & Brewery – 328 E 14th St (btw 1st & 2nd Ave) NYC 10003 Brothers Moving (band) – I guess like Hanson, only because they are brothers. Or maybe not really siblings, so that would make them like White Stripes?
Santa brought me Aerosmith Guitar Hero and I totally rocked “Dream On” and “Lovin in an Elevator”! For our Christmas supper, Rusty and I decide to make bacon wrapped quails. We’re living on the edge! I thought I invented the idea, until I looked it up and there was a ton of recipes. Maybe I did make it up, but just a ton of recipes too late.
I got off at the East Broadway stop for lunch on this Christmas Eve and came out of the exit where I always get lost. I decided to stick with it and see what I can discover. After a little walk, I saw a window with peking duck, roast pork & chicken. Just what I had in mind. I got a generous plate of roast duck & pork on rice for only 5 dolla. Pretty awesome. That’s like the price of a VCD/DVD bootleg.
I saw them prepare some of the dishes behind the counter. It reminded me the time when I was little chinolam hanging out in my father’s kitchen at Lam’s Garden. I would throw peas from the peapods into the deep fryer. They slowly sink, then pop right up and spin around like a speedboat.
Hankering for a Cuban sandwich from my Prosecco hangover so I went to try the one from Sophie’s. Also got the fried mashed potato ball with ground beef. This was really good. I can eat just balls for lunch. I remembered to ask for the green sauce this time.
